six weeks had been since I had seen a shore
and these sails
were tattered and torn
and this bow,
with each passing blow, splintered the more.
With a terrible temper, the sea threw and crashed against the hull,
pitching me starboard, twenty feet down and into the cold
and I wished for almost everything
when I lost feeling in my fingers,
and my heart beat in and out of rhythm,
and to this day, that rhythm still remains.
